Smyrna is our compact-lot specialist zone — 34 yards since 2009 on townhouse lots, patio homes, and tight single-family lots where space is everything. The design challenge here is making a 1,800 sqft backyard feel intentional and generous. We do a lot of cedar-fence privacy screens, narrow side-bed plantings, small paver entry courts, and right-sized pergola builds.
Coral honeysuckle
Lonicera sempervirens
Evergreen vine for Smyrna's cedar privacy fences — hummingbird draw, zero maintenance.
Inkberry holly
Ilex glabra
Compact, evergreen, deer-resistant — fits the narrow side beds on townhouse lots perfectly.
Christmas fern
Polystichum acrostichoides
Evergreen filler for the shaded north-facing bed panels common in Smyrna attached units.
Switchgrass
Panicum virgatum 'Shenandoah'
Compact ornamental grass with red fall tones — right scale for a patio-home bed.
Virginia sweetspire
Itea virginica 'Little Henry'
Dwarf cultivar for the small-space Smyrna bed where a full-size Itea would overpower the planting.
Clay-loam with generally adequate drainage — the constraint here is space, not soil.
Smyrna soils are more forgiving than Alpharetta or East Cobb — reasonable clay-loam, decent drainage, not as aggressively compacted. The main challenge is access: narrow side gates (sometimes 28–32"), shared-fence situations with neighbors, and small footprints that require precise equipment selection. We rarely need to replace bed soil wholesale here — amendment and aeration is usually enough.
Tight lot access
Townhouse lots and patio homes often have 28–34" side gates, shared fence lines, and no room for heavy equipment. Every Smyrna project is planned around what fits through the gate and what the shared fence situation allows.
Scale-sensitive design
A 520 sqft paver patio on a 1,800 sqft lot reads completely differently than on a 7,000 sqft suburban lot. We scale hardscape, plantings, and lighting to the lot — not to a template from a larger project.
Privacy-first planting
Many Smyrna backyard projects start with a privacy need. We plant fast-growing evergreen screens (Green Giant arborvitae, Leyland cypress alternatives, native hollies) before we touch anything decorative.
HOA fence + hardscape rules
Cobb County Smyrna neighborhoods vary widely on HOA covenant strictness. We review the covenant before we design and never promise something the HOA will reject.

Our process
One company. Three phases. Same designer at consult, same crew at install, same office calling to schedule the next mow. That’s how a yard you spent fifty thousand dollars on still looks like new five years later.
Design — on paper before a shovel goes in the ground
Free 90-minute consult on site. We listen, measure, photograph, then draft a scaled landscape plan with 3D renderings of the major hardscape. You see the patio before we pour the base.
Build — ICPI-certified, owner-supervised, one crew
Same five-person crew on every project, led by Marcus. Engineered base for every paver. No sub-contractors except licensed electrical and plumbing. Daily site cleanup, project manager on speed dial.
Maintain — the same people who built it keep it
Optional monthly plans starting at $120/mo. Whoever maintains your yard is the same person who designed the beds. Plant warranty extends through the first full year on a Greenline plan.
Homeowner voices
We don’t buy reviews and we don’t buy leads. These are Atlanta-metro homeowners whose yards we’ve put hands on in the last 90 days. Full Google reviews linked from each.
We had three landscapers quote our Buckhead backyard. Greenline was the only one who showed up with a sketchbook and asked what we actually wanted to *do* in the space. Three weeks later we have an outdoor room we use four nights a week.

Marcus designed our front yard in 2017 and Renee has maintained it since 2019. The yard still looks like the day it was installed — actually better, because the maples have filled in. That kind of continuity is hard to find.
Sandeep V.
Belgard paver patio and outdoor kitchen in Alpharetta. They pulled permits, coordinated electrical and gas, and finished on the day they said. The cost was the cost. No change orders, no surprises. We're getting a pool next year — Greenline gets the call.
